Thomas R.H. Tibbles, CFA
Thomas R.H. Tibbles, CFA, Chief Executive Officer & Chief Investment Officer
Tom Tibbles serves as CEO & CIO of Hansberger Growth Investors, L.P. (“HGI”) as well as serving on the firm’s Governing Board. In his role, Tom is a portfolio manager as well as being responsible for asset allocation and risk management decisions. He is also a key member of the Quantitative Research effort at HGI. Prior to joining our predecessor firm, Hansberger Global Investors, Inc. (“Old HGI”), in 1999, Tom headed up the Global Equity Team at Indago Capital Management in Toronto, an affiliate of Canada Life. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree with distinction from the University of Toronto, Trinity College. While attending the University of Toronto, he was awarded the Martin R. Lindsay Scholarship for performance in advanced finance and a Trinity College Scholarship for overall performance. He is a CFA charterholder and a member of the Toronto Society of Financial Analysts.

Barry A. Lockhart, CFA
Barry A. Lockhart, CFA, Managing Director
Barry Lockhart is a portfolio manager. Prior to joining Old HGI in 1999, Barry worked at Indago Capital Management as a portfolio manager of foreign equities, where his team managed approximately C$2 billion. His prior experience also includes working at Canada Life Investment Management as a senior investment analyst with responsibilities in the U.S., Far East, European and Latin American equity markets. Barry received his Masters of Business Administration degree in Finance and Accounting from McMaster University and his Bachelor of Commerce with honors from McMaster University. He is a CFA charterholder and a member of the Toronto Society of Financial Analysts.

Patrick Tan
Patrick Tan, Senior Vice President
Patrick Tan joined our firm in April 1999 and is a senior member of the growth investment team. Patrick, Barry and Tom initially formed the Growth Team in 1996 when they were with Indago Capital Management. As a portfolio manager and equity analyst; Patrick is responsible for fundamental equity analysis and co-managing international equity portfolios. He is also a key member of the Quantitative Research effort at HGI. Previously, he was involved in quantitative analysis of portfolios, program trading, research technology, database management and performance measurement. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Commerce and Economics from the University of Toronto.

Alyssa Light, CFA
Alyssa Light, CFA, Chief Compliance Officer & Vice President, Research – Fundamental Analyst
Alyssa Light is a fundamental analyst and responsible for multi-sector coverage. She joined the Growth Team in 2011 as a research associate. Alyssa began her career at Dundee Securities Corporation where she worked as a licensed sales assistant. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Calgary and is a CFA charterholder. Alyssa became HGI's CCO effective June 2016.

Betty  Tam
Betty Tam, Director of Research Technology & Vice President, Research – Quantitative Analyst
Betty Tam joined our firm in 2006 and is responsible for the management of information systems within the portfolio management process. She is also a key member of the Quantitative Research effort at HGI. Betty began her career in Operations and Account Administration Management, where she specialized in systems integration and enhancement. Her experience includes working at Indago Capital Management / Laketon Investment Management as the Director of Administration, Scotia Cassels Investment Counsel Limited as Manager of Portfolio Operations and at Perimeter Financial Corporation in the Asset Management Services Division as Operations Manager. Betty holds a Bachelor of Business Management degree from Ryerson University. She can speak Cantonese.

Phil Waara, CIPM
Phil Waara, CIPM, Investment Specialist
Phillip Waara serves as an Investment Specialist for Madison and Hansberger Growth Investors. Phil has been working in the financial services industry since 2010. Prior to joining Madison, Phil was an RFP writer for Wells Capital Management, and before that worked as a high net worth sales advisor for Wells Fargo Advantage Funds. He has earned B.S. degrees in Actuarial Science and Finance from Concordia University of Wisconsin. He also is FINRA registered.
